What Happened to Peaceful Fruits After Shark Tank?

What is Peaceful Fruits?

Peaceful Fruits is a line of natural fruit snacks made with acai. Acai is considered a super food because to its antioxidants, amino acids, and health omegas.

Peaceful Fruits is made with acai berries from the Amazon jungle and other organic fruits, with no added sweeteners.

Evan Delahanty, a former Peace Corps volunteer, founded Peaceful Fruits after spending two years working at the grassroots level with residents of Surinam, a small underdeveloped country on South America’s northeastern coast that is far removed in every way from Delahanty birthplace of Akron, Ohio.

When Delahanty returned to the United States, he resolved to establish a firm that would provide healthful fruit snacks while also being socially conscious, and Peaceful Fruits was created.

The bulk of Peaceful Fruits bars include Acai, a high-antioxidant Amazonian berry found by Delahanty while working in Surinam.

Who is the man behind Peaceful Fruits?

Evan Delahanty, a former Peace Corps volunteer, launched Peaceful Fruits after spending two years working at the grassroots level with residents of Surinam, a small impoverished country on South America’s northeastern coast that is in every way far from Delahanty homeland of Akron, Ohio.

He ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in August 2016, garnering $22,848 to get the product on the floor at Fair East, a huge natural goods food expo held in September 2016 in Baltimore, MD.

A booth at the expo costs $10,000, without adding the cost of providing product samples, literature, travel, and other expenses.

Peaceful Fruits come in two varieties: wild acai with pineapple and wild acai with apple.

The essential ingredient, the acai berry, is foraged in the Amazon Rainforest by Amazon Rainforest natives. This provides Delahanty with a sustainable source of ingredients while also allowing indigenous people in the forest to earn a living while preserving their way of life.

“Snacks created the correct manner, from the right stuff,” according to the company’s ideology. A 12-pack of snacks costs around $14.

Each box contains a fruit strip with over 25 acai berries. There is no sugar, preservatives, or other ingredients on each strip; simply fruit.

What Happened to Peaceful Fruits’ pitch on Shark Tank?

Evan chose to pitch his business to the Shark Tank investors in episode 16 of Season 8 of Peaceful Fruit on Shark Tank in order to help him into mass retail; he clearly needs funding for expansion.

Evan entered the Shark Tank asking for $75,000 for a 20% ownership in his company, which worth $375,000.

Evan entered the Shark Tank asking for $75,000 for a 20% ownership in his company, which worth $375,000.  He tells the Sharks about his product, how it’s created, and his social goal.

He distributes samples, and Daymond offers his approval. Mark said that a variety of acai fruit snacks are available. Lori values the fruit’s health benefits.

So Robert exits. He already has a fruit snack business. Kevin was fascinated by numbers. Evan wholesales the snacks for $0.85 a pack and retails them for $1.25. He’s made around $20,000 in sales thus far.

He’s getting ready to do a test run in Whole Foods stores in Ohio, and he had merchandise in Giant Eagle stores. Evan has made a commitment to live at Whole Foods and do product demos.

That motivates Daymond to exit; he was uninterested in demos. Mark was uncomfortable with the risk/reward ratio and decides to exits.

Kevin feels that the valuation was realistic, but that more than $75,000 will be required to get things started.

He refuses to accept a higher offer and exits. Lori thinks fruit snacks are overly competitive, and she, too, goes out.

Evan ultimately walked away from the pitch without a deal.
