Martin John Kemp, born 10 October 1961, is an English actor, musician, and director best known for his work as the bassist in the new wave band Spandau Ballet

He is the younger brother of Gary Kemp, a Spandau Ballet member, and actor. Kemp placed third in the tenth series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2012, and he participated as a judge on the BBC show Let It Shine in 2017.

Kemp was born in Islington, north London, to Frank and Eileen Kemp and attended Rotherfield Junior School.

He was a member of the Anna Scher Theatre acting club with his brother Gary since he was seven years old, and he has acted in a number of TV programmes, including Jackanory, The Tomorrow People, and Dixon of Dock Green.

He appeared in The Glittering Prizes with Tom Conti and Nigel Havers in his final year with Anna Scher.

Kemp was raised in north London and attended Islington’s Central Foundation Boys’ School.

He left school at 16 and began an apprenticeship at a print shop, but he quickly grew dissatisfied.
